Professional background

Over 25 years’ NHS experience, including senior management roles in areas such as research & development management;  managed clinical/service networks for cancer and neurosurgery;  and the establishment and management of regional cancer research networks. More recent roles were at national level (both Scotland and UK-wide) – Network Organisational Development Lead and Assistant Director of the National Institute for Health Research Cancer Research Network (NCRN), National Network Manager of the National Service Network for Neurosurgery in Scotland where I led the roll-out of the first national standards audit for neurosurgical services (visit: http://www.msn-neuro.scot.nhs.uk/Improving-Care/MSN-Standards/).

Training & expertise

Postgraduate Certificate in Management (Open University), Diploma in Personal Performance Coaching (The Coaching Academy), including training in Corporate & Executive Coaching, and a 3-day programme in “Appreciative Enquiry” with the University of Manchester Business School.  As a Coach, Qualified MBTI Practitioner, accredited to deliver the Myers Briggs Type Indicator assessments at Step I and Step II level. The most life-changing leadership development I have undertaken has to be the “Inspirational Leadership” Programme based on Shakespeare’s “Henry V” and delivered Olivier Mythodrama Associates Ltd.  My own personal ‘learning journey’ continues…. understanding the leadership qualities of someone like Henry V has added a creative dimension to the learning!
